9 things you will find in every travel addicts appartment

Hey lovelies!

Happy Sunday!
I hope everyone is having an amazing time. I am busy planning my trip to Bergen and Oslo where I will be this week. I will be in Bergen on the 28th and 29th of January and in Oslo on the 30th and 31st of January so if you are there too, send me a message and we will meet up!

As a travel addict, a wanderluster, a global nomad, I travel the entire world and am hardly at home, but when I am at home, I also like to come back to a place that really feels home, and that symbolizes who I am. And my passion is a big part of who I am so let me share some stuff you will find in my appartement. And if you are as big as a travelfreak as I am, you will have similar stuff in your place!

1: SOMETHING THAT SYMBOLIZES WHERE YOU ARE FROM

I am a Dutchie. I was born in the beautiful city of Delft and I am really proud of that. Delft is a lovely city.  I don’t live in Holland anymore but I like to carry something with me that is ‘typical’ dutch. These wooden clogs are so ‘Dutch’- really, it can not get any more Dutch than this. And of course Holland is way more than wooden clogs, windmills and cheese, but for me, these wooden shoes mean a lot. They are small and portable. The key chain is attached to my keys normally so I carry those around where ever I go, and the red clogs are next to my computer in my work space at home.

2: A GLOBE

Globes, oh how I love globes. I think every traveler has something with Globes. Haha. I am quite obsessed with them, so much that it is even in my brands name. I picked this little globe up in Singapore, actually at the airport.  I was shopping around for books and make up and I ended up buying this globe. I thought it was very cute and a perfect size to put in my work space as well.

3:  MAPS, MAPS, MAPS!

To every city I go to I collect the official ‘tourist’ maps. I think these are quite fun. They show everything in a very clear way and you see how to go to all the attractions and city highlights. I love to write on my maps and circle the places where I have been and I take these maps back home as a memory of my trip- Is this weird? Am I the only one who does this? 🙂

4: HOTEL TOILETRIES

Another thing I like to do, oh my god, I feel like a hoarder now, haha, is to collect the little shampoo’s and conditioners. These minitures are always so cute and I love to bring them back home after I have stayed in a hotel. In my bathroom I have a big vase with perhaps 100 mini’s. I think it looks cute and it is again another symbol of my traveling lifestyle.

5: LONELY PLANETS

Lonely planets are amazing travel guides for the passionate traveler. These books are great for planning your trip accordingly and getting all the right information. For almost every one of my trips I have bought a Lonely Planet to get great tips and advices.

6: TRAVEL MAGAZINES

Travel magazines– oh how much I adore them. I buy them in every country I go too, even if it is in a language that I don’t speak. These above are all in English-or Dutch- languages that I both speak. I love them. I love to read them, get inspired- they are always so inspiring

7: TRAVEL BOOKS

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Travel books- I have so many of them. I have an entire wall decorated with books and most of them are travel books. I love to read about countries that I have been to, never been to, or planing to go to. I get so much inspiration out of them. I am sure that if you are walking in the apartment of a wanderluster, you will find at least 10 different travel books!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhere ever I go, I always try to pick something of that reminds me of my travels to that certain place in that certain time. The painting I have bought from a street artist in Rome and the globe I have bought in Singapore. Actually, my entire appartment is filled with memories that I have collected during my travels.

9: A WORLDMAP

The one thing that you must have in every apartment is a worldmap. What else can we use to plan our next trips, right travelers? OH- and the map on the left? I will explain more about that one tomorrow…

5 most frequently asked questions that Travel Bloggers get- and the answers to them!

Hi lovelies!

Today I wanted to share the top 5 questions I as a travel blogger get asked the most through my social media channels. I know a lot of my fellow travel bloggers will get the same questions too but my answers can differ from theirs so today I will share my answers to your top 5 Q’s!

1.  How do you afford to travel the world?
If I got get a dollar for every time I got asked this question I would be a freaking millionaire now and you would have your answer directly! Haha. But unfortunately that is not the case. I can guarantee you that every travel blogger gets that question at least once a day through IG, Twitter, FB or what ever platform they might use the most. I know that this answer is different for everyone but I can share mine. My travels are paid 50% my myself and 50% by sponsoring. I got some great deals with great brands that allow me to travel for free. I used to blog fulltime but I do not do this at the moment. I actually have a fulltime job that helps me to safe for my travels too and I travel whenever I can. Every free moment I have is either spend online, looking for new destinations to go to or by heading to the airport to jump on the plane for my next adventure!

2.  Isn’t it lonely to be a solo traveler?
You perhaps expect the answer to be ‘Yes‘ but it really is not. For me solo traveling is freedom. I like to go wherever I want, when ever I want and being able to meet new people all day every day. I am actually never lonely on my travels. I am very talkative and I am a very social person and I meet people all the time. There are some moments where I chose to be alone because I love to spend some time with myself too but that does not make me ‘lonely’.

3.  Is it safe to travel by yourself?
Definitely a yes for this question. I do not understand why people are afraid to travel alone. The world is a beautiful place and you should go out and discover it. Of course there are some places where you might should not go by your self but as long as you trust your instances you will be perfectly fine. Do not do random weird things like walking alone in dark alleys in the middle of the night, but let’s be honest, would you do that in your own hometown? Probably not. I think that if you plan your trip accordingly and you respect the rules, norms and values of the city/country that you are in that you will have an amazing time!

4.  Aren’t you tired of living out of a suitcase?
No, hell no! I love living out of a suitcase. Being a travelblogger has taught me that I do not need as much as I think I do. I can definitely survive with 1 lipstick, perhaps 2 if I go on a weektrip. I do not need 10 different kind of shades. Haha. I love living out of a suitcase because because you can only bring a limited amount of stuff you get more creative and you develop great organizing skills which you can use in other aspects of your life as well!

5.  What is your favorite travel destination?
If you know me at all, than you would not need me to answer this question. Bali baby! Bali all the way. I am in love with the lsland, the people, the culture, the beaches, the food and well, basically everything. Bali has everything to offer that you can imagine. Great scenery’s, mountains, volcano’s, nature, beaches, luxury at an affordable price, great people. I can definitely recommend you to visit Bali! And if you do, let me know, I will send you some tips.

What is the one question that people ask you the most?
