My Awkward Encounters- On a plane to Oslo

Hey lovelies!

How are you today? I am doing great!
I have decided to continue with the ‘My Awkward Encounters’ column. I wrote a series about my ‘awkward encounters between me and my hot neighborboy’ and it was always so much fun to share these stories with you. Since me and the hottie neighborboy are close to over, well, over, I thought that instead of writing about him, I could continue to write about my awkward encounters. Because trust me, I am an awkward girl, getting in awkward situations, all the time. So why not let you enjoy these with me?

I have already got plenty of situations that I want to share but let’s start with the one of this morning.. –
12191603_459822214224738_9188441319696984192_nI am writing this to you from the plane on my way to Oslo. I will celebrate my birthday there. In the past decade I have never celebrated my birthday in the city or country I actually live in. For me it is such a great time to actually go abroad with loved ones to celebrate your life!

Because that is something everyone should do. Celebrate yourself! Be happy and thankful and love yourself!

In the past I have celebrated my birthday in Brussels, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bali, Copenhagen and I thought this time Oslo was an amazing destination.

As you all know I currently live in Antwerp and I had such a busy month of traveling. I went to Malaga, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Porto, Dublin, Nice, Paris, Munich and Berlin and even though my body kind of wanted to have a quiet time at home just relaxing and celebrating my birthday at my own place I could not resist it.

You can never stop a wandering heart I guess.

I can not wait to go back to Oslo and to explore the city and of course to take lots of pictures for you so we can enjoy this city together. I will also do a review at the Radisson Blu Plaza hotel which I can’t wait for. The hotel is gorgeous and it has it’s own sky bar at the 34th floor of the building, sounds perfect right?

While I am writing this, as I mentioned I am in the plane now and I have the „middle seat’, it always sucks when you have the middle seat. I actually have to pee now but my neighbor is sleeping so I can not get out. Haha. Normally people would just wake those sleepy heads but this guy is already so annoyed with me and I do not want to piss him of even more. Before the plane took of and we were waiting due to a passenger that was late I asked him if I could get up cause I needed something from my bag that was already in the overhead luggage department. He gave me this awkward stare, roled his eyes and got up so I could pass. It really was like I was the worst thing that ever happened to him. I tried to make one of my (obviously failed and awkward jokes) by saying, I hate being in the aisle sea because than I always had to bother peoplet. Obvi, this was the joke cause he was in the aisle seat but he did not get it, actually, I also don’t get it anymore when I am writing this but when I said it I thought it was somewhat funny. haha. He corrected me: „ I am in the aisle seat, you are ‚JUST’ inn the middle seat”. – „just in the middle seat? What is wrong with being in the middle seat? Is that for peasants or something? –Okay, thank you sir for pointing that out.

I went to get something from my bag and this dude actually sat back down. After I think approximately 3 minutes, when I came back I got yet another annoyed look. I asked him if I could ‚Please” sit down. It felt like I was asking him a favor, to be able to sit, in my own freaking seat. He got up and roled his eyes again. I am sorry, but what did you expect? That I would just not come back anymore or I would disappear like I am some kind of Houdini magic act. Dumb ass dude.

12191862_459822114224748_1449451219035954418_nBut let’s continue. I will share my current situation. I am now stuck between a
lovely old American guy
that is sleeping and snoring a bit and between the Norwegian guy who is annoyed with
me that is also sleeping while probably dreaming of pushing me out of the plane.
In the picture it almost looks like he is posing for the picture, haha. But obviously he is not. The picture still cracks me up. He thought I was so annoying, but I will always have a great picture to remember my awkward moment with him: 12187857_459822224224737_2990001567947473714_n
And than there are these boys. Oh- MY-GOD! I am not sure if you can see them clearly on the picture but they are gorgeous. I mean G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S and obviously something awkward happend. ( You can’t see them clearly in the pic though, it is the guy that is standing and the blondie to his right).12191544_459822167558076_812448008699724323_nThey are extremely tall, it would not surprise me if they were basketballplayers cause they do have that height and body. They are blond and blue eyed (HALLLO, Totally my vikingtype). When we were walking down the aisle the boys were actually right behind me. They were talking with each other so the one directly behind me looked back at his friend while talking to him. When I reached my seat I had to put my luggage in the overhead department so I bend over to pick my trolley up so I could lift it. The guy directly behind me did not see that cause he was looking behind him talking to his friend which caused this awkward situation: Me, bending over with my ass directly in his, well, you know what and him bumping in to my ass. I almost fell but fortunately I could still regroup and recover. I said, well, normally it does not go this fast, you could at least introduce yourself first. He laughed so hard and I laughed too. Yes, at least one joke that worked. He introduced him self and he even helped me with my luggage. Than, when he lifted my luggage to store it his t-shirt lived and I saw his body. I do not know why I have this obvious reaction to hot body’s, I wish I could be smooth and subtle but before it I said: Damn….while having my mouth dropped all the way to the floor. OMG, I felt like such a perf! Haha. When I realized that I said that out loud and that was not a sound in my head I immediately said sorry while standing there feeling extremely embarrassed. Than he did something that totally surprised me. He said no girl, and he looked at me from head to toe and said, Damnnnn and he blinked- too.

I wanted to blink back but I remembered, I can’t blink, it always looks like a weird twitch, so I did not. I thought I embarrassed myself enough for one morning.

We both laughed and I sat down. This happend I think within 2 minutes but it felt like it lasted forever.

So there you are, I am not even in Oslo yet and i already had my awkward moments. I can not wait to experience more, knowing myself I will have plenty of these moments and when I do I will share them with you directly! 🙂

Things i’ve learned in my 28 years on this earth part 1.

Schermafbeelding 2015-09-12 om 21.06.47

Hey lovelies!

Tomorrow, or well in just a few hours I will turn 29. Damn, how fast does the time fly by right. I can’t believe i’m almost hitting the dirty thirty but hey, i’m not there yet.

I decided to write this post to share some of my knowledge I have gained through out the years. I think we can all learn from each other and therefor I hope I can teach you some things. I hope you can learn from my mistakes, my failures, my succeses and my experiences. So here we go..

PARENTS
If you are lucky enough to still have your parents spend time with them. As we are growing up, they are growing older. They will not be here forever. No matter what your situation with hem is now, they are the ones that created you. Without them you would not be here. Appreciate that. Appreciate them. Even if you don’t live with them anymore. Call them up sometimes. Not when you need something. But ask them how they are doing. Get to know them, love them, treasure them.

FRIENDS
People come and go. Friends come and go. Some people will disappoint you, you will disappoint people. But real friends will be there no matter what. You do not need a lot of friends. A handful is much better. Do not ‘waste’ your time investing in everyone you have met. Of course it is good to be social but real friends, you just need a few. Invest in them and let them know they matter to you- never assume.

NEVER ASSUME
To follow up on that point. Never assume. There is this saying that when you ‘Assume’ you make and ‘Ass’ out of ‘U’ and ‘ME’ and it is kind of true. Do not set your self up for disaster by expecting things without clear communication. If you want to know something, ask it. If you need something, get it. Never let things go by, just assuming.

LOVE
Love is the most beautiful emotion and feeling out there. Love will make you feel good and bad, sometimes at the same time. Do not run away from love, open your arms and embrace it. Love like you have never been hurt before, even though it is f*cking hard. Just someone hurt you in your past does not mean that the next one will hurt you too. And if they do- that is life. Do not deprive yourself of something that could possibly be so good. Love others and let them know that you do. 3 words, 8 letters can be so magical and powerful. Do not let the one you love go on without them knowing how you exactly feel.

LOVE YOUR SELF
Do not only have love for others. But also love yourself. A lot. Look at yourself in the mirror and give your self some compliments. Tell yourself you are beautiful because, baby, you are. You are gorgeous. Do not set to high expectations for your self, be reasonable, be realistic. Be kind to your self. Do something nice for yourself. Buy yourself something nice. You are the person you are stuck with for the rest of your live. Why not have a great relationship with yourself? Try to be your own best friend.

FORGIVE
Forgive yourself, forgive others. Do not let hatred fill your heart. Maybe you have been through so much sadness and pain. Maybe someone has hurt you so much that you don’t know how to forget that. But that is not what I am asking of you. You can probably never forget that certain moment, however, you can chose to forgive someone. Work hard on that and your reward will be huge..

TRAVEL
If there is something I wish for all of you is to travel. Go out, see the world. Explore, discover and enjoy our beautiful earth. You are not here forever and the world is so beautiful. Why only see a small part of it. I don’t have money or I don’t have time are just excuses. If you can not afford a world trip and don’t have the possibility to save up for this, explore the country that you are in. There is so much more than just your hometown. Traveling will give you so much more than you can ever imagine. You will learn so much about the world, about others, but most importantly about yourself.

READ BOOKS
Read read read. Continue to educate yourself. Be curious, never stop reading. Nothing is better than getting lost in a book, in a story, in the thoughts of someone else. There are so many great books out there. Find out what kind of genre you like and just get lost in it. Find your favorite author (Mine are Fitzgerald and Bukowski). Let them inspire you.

YOUR BODY IS YOUR TEMPLE
Your body is your temple. You only get one of those. Take care of it like it is a sacred temple, because it kind of is. Stay in shape, eat healthy, brush your teeth (yes this sounds maybe so random, but really, do it 2/3 a day). Exercise, not to lose weight but to feel good.

YOU ARE GOOD ENOUGH
You are always good enough. You are enough. Never change yourself for someone else or let others tell you that you are not (good) enough, because you are. You are beautiful and you have your imperfections like anyone else, but that makes you YOU. That makes you unique. Cherish your self and look at your positive qualities. Make a list of them and read them every now and again.

BE NICE
Be a kind and warm person. Be understanding towards other people. Nobody is born a bitch or an asshole. Do not let your past influence you in a bad way by becoming a bitter soul. If you have been through stuff, forgive those people, forgive your self. Do not judge others. Do not let your insecurity rule you. Be a nice person.

LAUGH YOUR ASS OF EVERY DAY
Laughing is so important. Smile and laugh every day. And if you do not feel happy, try to find something that makes you feel happy.

DO WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY
Always do what makes you happy. Do not live your life for others. Do not try to make others happy. Try to make yourself happy. Maybe your parents want a certain path for you, but if that does not make you happy, do not do it. Maybe your friends expect something from you, but anyone who does not allow you to be YOU is not a real friend. Find the thing that makes you happy and go for it. It might not bring you major succes at once, or at all, but does that really matter? If you are happy doing it, why stop?

This was part one of my list. Part 2 will follow soon. What are the things that you have learned so far? xoxo

5 most frequently asked questions that Travel Bloggers get- and the answers to them!

Hi lovelies!

Today I wanted to share the top 5 questions I as a travel blogger get asked the most through my social media channels. I know a lot of my fellow travel bloggers will get the same questions too but my answers can differ from theirs so today I will share my answers to your top 5 Q’s!

1.  How do you afford to travel the world?
If I got get a dollar for every time I got asked this question I would be a freaking millionaire now and you would have your answer directly! Haha. But unfortunately that is not the case. I can guarantee you that every travel blogger gets that question at least once a day through IG, Twitter, FB or what ever platform they might use the most. I know that this answer is different for everyone but I can share mine. My travels are paid 50% my myself and 50% by sponsoring. I got some great deals with great brands that allow me to travel for free. I used to blog fulltime but I do not do this at the moment. I actually have a fulltime job that helps me to safe for my travels too and I travel whenever I can. Every free moment I have is either spend online, looking for new destinations to go to or by heading to the airport to jump on the plane for my next adventure!

2.  Isn’t it lonely to be a solo traveler?
You perhaps expect the answer to be ‘Yes‘ but it really is not. For me solo traveling is freedom. I like to go wherever I want, when ever I want and being able to meet new people all day every day. I am actually never lonely on my travels. I am very talkative and I am a very social person and I meet people all the time. There are some moments where I chose to be alone because I love to spend some time with myself too but that does not make me ‘lonely’.

3.  Is it safe to travel by yourself?
Definitely a yes for this question. I do not understand why people are afraid to travel alone. The world is a beautiful place and you should go out and discover it. Of course there are some places where you might should not go by your self but as long as you trust your instances you will be perfectly fine. Do not do random weird things like walking alone in dark alleys in the middle of the night, but let’s be honest, would you do that in your own hometown? Probably not. I think that if you plan your trip accordingly and you respect the rules, norms and values of the city/country that you are in that you will have an amazing time!

4.  Aren’t you tired of living out of a suitcase?
No, hell no! I love living out of a suitcase. Being a travelblogger has taught me that I do not need as much as I think I do. I can definitely survive with 1 lipstick, perhaps 2 if I go on a weektrip. I do not need 10 different kind of shades. Haha. I love living out of a suitcase because because you can only bring a limited amount of stuff you get more creative and you develop great organizing skills which you can use in other aspects of your life as well!

5.  What is your favorite travel destination?
If you know me at all, than you would not need me to answer this question. Bali baby! Bali all the way. I am in love with the lsland, the people, the culture, the beaches, the food and well, basically everything. Bali has everything to offer that you can imagine. Great scenery’s, mountains, volcano’s, nature, beaches, luxury at an affordable price, great people. I can definitely recommend you to visit Bali! And if you do, let me know, I will send you some tips.

What is the one question that people ask you the most?

How to pack your suitcase like a boss!

lv suitcseHey Lovelies!

How are all of you doing? I am doing great. I am lying in bed, typing this post for you guys as I my mind is taking a trip on it’s own. Saturday my big Euro Trip will start.

4 Countries, 8 cities, 10 days- Can I do this thing? Sure I can! It will be a very fun trip and I can not wait to see, discover and explore.

I will start my trip in Madrid and I will continue to Malaga, Barcelona, Rome, Munchen, Berlin, Nice and Paris. I can not wait to see these cities as a lot of them I have not seen before. I am originally from Holland but since I lived in Asia and traveled a lot in especially South East Asia, I currently am more of an expert on that continent. But that is about to change. 2015 has brought me already so many lovely travels and trips like my most recents from the past month: Porto in Portugal and Dublin in Ireland. Both cities/countries I have not visited up until last month.

Due to all these travels I have developed an amazing ‘fast packing skill technique that today I will share with you all so you, just like myself, can ‘Pack like a boss too’ !

1. Where are you going? – Understand your destination
It is very important that you understand your destination. Are you going to a sunny destination or to a colder destination. What will you need? Make a mental moodboard of all the stuff you need and than you will continue to the next step;

2. Make lists – preparation is everything.
The common mistake that people make is to skip this step. Why waste time on writing down everything that you have to pack right? Wrong! It might take you an extra 15 minutes but after that it is quite easy. It is like having your grocery list while walking in the supermarket. You can walk down every aisle and just get all the products you need and put them in your shopping cart. The same with traveling. Lists will be your best friend.

3. Toiletry bags and plastic containers are your best friend- Organize your stuff!
I always organize my stuff. And you should do it too. Put everything in a bag or container of it’s own in the category it belongs too. For example:
Keep all your chargers (Phone, laptop camera) in one toiletry bag (yes they are meant for your make up but why not use them for other purposes? They are so handy!
Also have a separate bag for your bra’s and undies. When you arrive at your location it is so much easier to find anything and you won’t have to look for hours for that one favorite pair of knickers.

4. Pack smart- treat your suitcase like it is a Tetris Game
Remember playing Tetris when you were a kid? Or well, if you are like me you probably played it somewhere this week. haha. The point of the game is to fit everything together perfectly in straight rows- that will give you the perfect score. And that is kind of the same thing as packing your suitcase. You want to get as much in as you can and you do not want to wase space. You already made a smart choice by organizing your categories in separate bags as mentioned in step 3. Now it is time to place all the containers and toiletry bags neatly in your suitcase. The best way to pack your suitcase is to fill both halves. Some people just stash everything in one side and than flap the over over it and they are like-done. This way you can actually pack less and you do not use your suitcase to it’s full advantage. When you pack both halves and you separate them by a carton board (if your suitcase does not come with it’s own board you can use a flat carton board, a very cheap solution to create more space in your luggage and keep it well organized) you will see that you have a better overview of what goes where and you will use the capacity of your suitcase to it’s fullest!

I hope these tips help! What are your best tips?

xoxo

DOBE GLOBE- What does it mean tho?

Hey lovelies!

Today I will explain to you a little bit more about the name DOBE GLOBE. I have gotten this question so many times by now, and well, for me it is quite obvious what it means but I do realize that it is not that logical for everyone so let me explain it for you today.

globeWhen I thought about a name for me website I came up with a bunch of things first before I got the name DOBE GLOBE. I wanted something catchy, trendy, raw and edgy at the same time. I wanted to separate myself from others and I wanted to create an international name that was was approachable and easy to relate too (once you know what it means).

FIRST THINGS FIRST- What would my website be about?
I think it is important to think about the message that you want to send out to the world. What will your identity be, what is the maingoal of your website, what do you want your brand to look like. Many many years ago I had a beauty blog and I was active as a beautyguru on YouTube and when I got ‘older’ and I evolved more I discovered that I had many other interests. Beauty is still a big love of mine but it was not 100% me anymore. I have a big passion for traveling and lifestyle related subjects so having just a ‘beautyblog’ did not fit me anymore. I still really enjoy watching beauty blogs/vlogs and tutorials but I wanted something different, something more.

As I grew more and more and I developed more interests and specialties I wanted my website to grow with me too. One world that I really wanted in my brand name was the word ‘Globe’. I have an obsessions with globes and I think our earth is the most precious and beautiful ‘thing’. Using the word Globe is pretty obvious. It is international, worldly and related to all kind of subjects like traveling, lifestyle and even beauty and fashion! A globe is universal, just like those subjects!

Than I started to think about the message I wanted to send out to my friends, followers and readers and I came up with 2 things:

1: DO everything that your heart desires.
2: BE the best you YOU can be.

And there it was. All of a sudden ‘DOBE’ was created and DOBE GLOBE was born. So when pronouncing it it is actually DOBE and not ‘Dou-Bee’ as some might think.

At first I was a bit annoyed that DOBE had 4 letters and GLOBE 5 letters because in logo’s and all it would not be ‘even’ and I am really OCD like that

There for my message to you all: “Do everything your heart desires and be the best you you can be on our beautiful Globe. Live life to the fullest. Explore, discover, DO more and BE more. Always push yourself to be the best version of YOU!

What do you think about the name?

Review: Luxury Resort The Edge | Bali | Indonesia

Schermafbeelding 2015-10-15 om 00.25.30Bali probably has the most beautiful collection of luxury,  boutique en design hotels and villa’s in the entire world. One complex is more beautiful and luxurious than the other and it is my job to take you on a journey through these beautiful resorts. I want you to see all these beautiful places so we can get lost together. I have the privilege of staying in these places and it gives me great joy to share my moments with you.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Today I will be sharing my experience about my stay at The Edge in Bali.
The Edge is part of the Mesa hotels and resorts and I must say, from all the places I have ever stayed in, this is by far the best place so far. The Edge is in it’s league of it’s own. Nothing can compare to the beauty and luxury of this resort. Everything is impeccable.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

From the 24/7 personal butler services, to the treatments at their own private Spa. From the delicious haute cuisine menu to the million dollar views you have from every angle. The Edge is definitely the place to be if you enjoy only the best things in life.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

At the Edge nothing is impossible. You want something? They will make it happen for you. I was highly impressed with the service even before I arrived at the venue. I was in touch with my personal butler by email before my arrival to set everything up. From the type of pillow that I preferred to the Spa menu that was send so I could see what treatment I preferred. (A full review on this will follow) – Oh, even the welcome drink was prepared because I could let them know in advance which one I wanted. – Perfection!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

LOCATION- How to get there
The Edge is set within the traditional village of Pecatu. This might not be the most familiar place in Bali for the travels so let’s just say that it is a 5 minute drive from Uluwatu and approximately a 35 minute drive from Ngurah Rai Airport.  It is very easy to reach the resort because the Edge offers a complimentary transfer and pickup service. This transfer is done by a driver and your personal butler will accompany you for the trip. When I was picked up from my hotel in Uluwatu to bring me to the Edge I was picked up in a luxury vehicle. Directly upon entering the vehicle the butler introduced himself and gave me great information about the venue. What I also absolutely adored was that while driving towards the resort the butler showed me a presentation with lots of beautiful pictures of the venue on the iPad while offering me water, a refreshing towel and some chocolates- Yes, the million dollar treatment started from the get go!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The Edge is build literally on ‘The Edge’ making it one of the highest points in Bali where I have ever been. Because you are on this ‘Edge’ you will have a fantastic view overlooking the clear blue ocean and trust me while I say that it is the perfect spot for pink sky sunsets!

The edge is the perfect location because from there you can go everywhere. Just ask your butler for tips and he will give you all the ins and outs about Bali. You can easily go to a beautiful beach like Dreamland in Jimbaran or have a golf session in Nusa Dua. Every place is easy to reach from the Edge because even though it might be a bit of a drive, your butler will take good care of you and make sure you will reach there in all comfort!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

THE RESORT-
At the Edge it is all about quality and not about quantity. You can see that in everything. The villa resort is so exclusive that it ‘only’ has 3 villa’s.
The Mood ( a 2 bedroom Villa)
The Cliff   ( a 3 bedroom Villa)
The View  ( a 5 bedroom Villa)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I had the pleasure and honor to stay in the 5 bedroom villa that can accommodate 10 people. But more about that later on.
Even though all the villa’s come with their own private swimming pool (some with several swimming pools) there is also a common area where you can take a dip or have a tanning session while enjoying a cocktail that is freshly made by one of the fantastic staff members. This common area is connected to the Spa

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

THE VIEW- The villa I have stayed in
I stayed in the 5 bedroom villa named ‘The View”. When you enter the villa you will understand why it is called ‘The View’. When you go outside, on your private terrace where you have not one, but 2 swimming pools you will see the most magnificent views that you have ever seen, overlooking Bali, also known as the Island of the Gods. The view of the ocean is incredibly beautiful. Just for a moment you will forget all the bad things in your life because the beauty of the villa and it’s views are so incredibly beautiful.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The villa has 2 floors. The top floor has 2 master bedrooms. Both with their own million dollar view. The windows from the floor to the ceiling will create the best morning view you will ever have. When you wake up you will see the clear blue sky and the ocean. You will immediately feel that you are in paradise. Oh, and if that won’t do the trick for you, you will have palm trees in your own garden too.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

All the rooms are beautifully decorated and you will see the Eastern world fuse with the Western world. It has all the luxuries from the Western standards but with beautiful Asian and Balinese details. All the details in the villa are definitely the ‘best of both worlds’.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
On the ground floor you also have the kitchen area and the living room. The living room comes with a big comfortable couch and again, you will have a fantastic view of the scenery. And perhaps you would like to play some piano? This is also not a problem because the living room comes with it’s own piano so you can let all your musical talent out and create some lovely tunes!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The huge dining table is perfect to host your family dinner. Since the villa can fit up to 10 people this big dining table is just perfect. It is beautiful and luxurious.

On the Lower Ground Floor, because ‘basement’ just does not sound right while talking about this luxury villa, you will have 3 other bedrooms. All the bedrooms come with their own bathroom including a shower and a bath tub. Downstairs you also have a living area and even a wine celler.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

2 highlights from this Lower Ground Floor area are the home cinema where you can watch your favorite movie in your own private theatre and the kids playroom. The playroom comes with the best toys ( I even fell in love with Mr. Teddy :)) and the best games like a nintendo, wii, playstation and so on. All the toys are renewed every 3 months so you can be sure that you will have great new toys to play with (or let your kids play with).

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Kissy Kissy!

FOOD AND BEVERAGES-  Fantastic food and delicious drinks
At the edge they offer only the best things so you can imagine what this means for the food and drinks. The most delicious meals you will ever have in your life will be in this place, I can guarantee you that. They have a menu where they offer a big variety of food. From local dishes to Western food- there is something on the menu for everyone. They also do offer personalized menu’s  and again, whatever you want, your butler will make sure you will have it.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
The delicious lamb chops!

Funny anecdote: While we got the tour through the villa the manager told us that he once had guests that preferred Scottish salmon. But let’s be honest, where will you find Scottish salmon in Bali? You just don’t. So they flew it in. Just for this one guest and his company. If that isn’t top notch service I do not know what is. (of course this service has it’s own price tag but hey, nothing is impossible :))

I have tried so many things from the menu but I must say I have found my love in the lychee cocktail, the grilled lamb chops and the creme brûlée was the best one I ever had. And trust me, I have tasted my fave dessert in over 20 different places but the one in the Edge is just sublime.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Creme brule? Creme bruYAY!

FOR WHO?- Should you stay in the Edge?
YES YES AND YES- You definitely should if you ever have the chance. The Edge is a beautiful resort that caters to all your dreams and wishes. Because The Edge offers 3 different villa’s it is suitable for a large target audience but you must love only the best things in life. The Edge is focussed on the luxury traveler, the city expats that are looking for their sweet island escapes and it won’t surpass you that they also cater to celebs from over the entire world. Fredrik, are you the next celeb that will stay here? I thinks so! You belong here honey!

The resort is perfect for a romantic getaway or even a corporate trip. If you are going on a teambuilding trip please look in to this lovely resort since you can rent the entire property too and this will be the best place for you to stay, I can guarantee you this.

If you are visiting with your family it is perfect too. I would recommend you to stay in the villa ‘The View’ because you will have plenty of space and a kids playroom and home theatre so there will be entertainment for all.

The villa is so amazing, I don’t think you would want to leave it ever again…

Some beautiful visuals:

8 Things that will happen when you are the one in your friend group that always travels (or lives abroad).

Hey lovelies,

How are you doing today? I was busy writing my reviews from my Bali trip (have you seen the latest one *Click ) and while looking at my pictures I realized that due to my work and passion for traveling, I do travel a lot. No, this is not a big revelation to me but I did realize that even though it comes with a lot of blessings and beautiful memories, it also has its ‘downside’.
Yes, traveling and wanderlusting throughout this globe is Fan-freaking-tastic, but sometimes it can get hard too. For me, I travel a lot and I live abroad and thought it was the perfect time to write a post about this. Sharing 8 things (positive and negative) that will happen when you are the one in your friend group that always travels, or lives abroad! Perhaps you can recognize some points, thoughts and feelings, so let’s go!

 1. YOU WILL MISS YOUR FAMILY
Being away from your family will make you miss them. (Or not, haha). I have a really close connection with my mom, dad and sister and not living in the same country as them can be difficult at times. It is not that I expect to see them every day but it sucks not being able to just go over for coffee when I feel like it.

2.  YOU WILL MISS YOUR FRIENDSSchermafbeelding 2015-09-14 om 22.10.25Missing your friends is also a big downside of living abroad. It can be hard to see that your friends continue their weekly get-togethers (obviously, cause life does not stop when you move away haha) and you are not a part of it. At least, not physically. Movie dates with your besties, clubbing till the break of dawn or just lying in bed with a chocolate candy bar watching movies is something you can’t do that easily anymore.

3.  YOU WILL HAVE A LOT OF DIFFERENT FRIEND GROUPSshuub en ikBesides your home town friend group you will have a lot of international friends too! Traveling and living abroad has also a very big plus side! Because you are always on the run and/or you have lived in several places you will probably have a lot of friend groups that you are part off. People that you met while traveling are probably living all over this globe so for your next city trip the chances are quite big that you have a friend to crash with. Also, what I have learned is that while traveling or living abroad you become faster, closer to and with people. You all share that one big thing; “You are away from your own loved ones so you create your own ‘Family” and this can be pretty damn awesome too!

4.  YOU WILL MISS IMPORTANT MILESTONES
One thing that deeply sucks is missing milestones in your friends and family members’ life. Everyone continues their own life. A life with graduations, birthdays, anniversary’s and weddings and it is so hard to be there for every occasion. For me, being in my mid-twenties I have friends that are starting a family and it sucks that when you see your girlfriend becoming a mommy, that you can’t be there when her first baby is born. Yes you will see the baby, 6 months later when you will go back to your homecountry, but during the most important time you can’t be there to support her and it will suck terribly.

5.  YOU WILL HAVE ARGUMENTS WITH PEOPLE THAT JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND
Living the nomad/travelers lifestyle is not something everyone can relate too. The endless discussions I have had with my friends who mean well but just don’t understand. “Why are you always traveling, why aren’t you settling down”. And the one that really is icing on the cake: “Why don’t you have a normal lifestyle”. But let’s be honest, who defines the word “normal”. If normal is being married by the age of 25, having 3 kids, a hubby and a cat, going to your office job everyday, spending your weekends being a soccer mom, I am sorry but than I really like to be weird. I do not mean this in an offensive way. I respect everyone and their lifestyle but you will have people judging you for not choosing this lifestyle too. It is hard to explain why you have this burning fire in your heart to discover planet earth, to see all the beauty that this world has to offer so at some point I would advice you to just smile and nod.  It has absolutely no point to argue with people that don’t understand a wandering heart.

6. YOU WILL BECOME VERY CREATIVE IN WAYS OF HOW YOU KEEP IN TOUCHwhatsappYes, it is true. You will become even more creative than you already are with keeping in touch. You are so used to being ‘gone all the time’ and you don’t want to neglect your friends or family so you think of ways of keeping in touch cause let’s be honest, just texting ain’t enough. When I was living in my hometown I would always just text my friends short stuff like hey, let’s hang out but I would never send them a card, or a long email, or a video message. Why should I? I would see them on a daily/weekly bases. We live in a time where we have so many possibilities of keeping in touch. Through social media (FB, Instagram, Twitter) or just a simple email. A video message or a whatsapp voice message. Yes, everything is possible so why not take advantage of that? I have had the most fun whatsapp
voice messages lately with my girlfriends and trust me, you should do this too!

7. YOU WILL MAKE EVERY MOMENT COUNT
Once you do go back to your hometown and see your fave friends, you will make every minute count. And I mean EVERY minute.
– You arrived at 11 PM at the airport and you reach your home around 1 AM but your friends want to go out because you will only be ‘in town’ for 2 days- Trust me, you will go! And the morning after another friend wants you to come over to admire her 2 week old babygirl, SURE! You will go. You will make it happen. How tired you might be, you will feel so energized by the thought that you will see the one friend you have not seen in such a long time, that all your tiredness will disappear. You will make use of every minute that you are ‘home’.  It might require some strategic planning and adding some friends to getter in a new ‘group’ but you will make damn sure you saw everyone you wanted to see, went to your fave cafe and you will hit the road again with a 1001 new amazing memories.

8.  YOU WILL APPRECIATE YOUR LOVED ONES MORE
This sounds so corny and cliche but really, you don’t know what you got until it’s gone. Or well, gone’ish. Haha. When you are used to talking to your friends and seeing them on a daily bases, or are still depending on your mom to bring you soup when you are sick and coming over to take care of you (Yes, I am a 28 year old woman and I still expect this from my mom #noshamenogame haha)
and all of a sudden, this is not possible because you live abroad or are traveling, you will appreciate those moments more. When you are back living in your hometown, those things are so normal. So normal that you don’t even realize that it is actually quite special. Being in my ‘home away from home” has taught me a valuable lesson of who matters to me most, besides my family, who my real friends are and who I choose to have in my life. And if you are lucky, like I am, those people will choose you too. They will understand and love you and your wandering heart and they will always be your ‘home’.
