Hey lovelies, How are you all today? I am currently planning real hard for my next trip to the States. The destinations are still a bit on… Read more “How to plan your next trip like a boss”
Dublin is an awesome city, definitely worth visiting and when you go to Dublin you of course need a place to stay. No worries, I got the perfect place for you that is suitable for everyone no matter what your budget is. The Generator in Dublin is part of the Generator Hostels with currently 11 hostels in 10 different cities through Europe.
I had the pleasure to visit the hostel in London last year: *Click here for review! and this year I thought it was time to visit another one. I chose the hostel in Dublin and this truly was a great decision. For me, I don’t have a lot of experiences with hostels but I always have this scary image of it. Dirty rooms, shitty beds, and nasty showers. At least, that is what I have heard of my traveling friends who actually stay in hostels. This might be a bit narrow minded of me but it does influence me. Therefor, when I discovered the Generator Hostels I was so pleasantly surprised how beautiful, clean and amazing it actually is.
The cater to everyone wishes with different roomtypes, but that will follow in a bit.
LOCATION: The Generator Dublin is in a very good location. It is easy to reach rom the airport, you can take a bus directly from the airport to the Hostel. The Airlink 747 is your link to the city center. You can get on the Airlink express from outside both airport terminals every 15 mins for only €6 single or €10 return. You need to get off at Ushers Quay. From Ushers Quay the hostel is just a short walk away. You have to cross a bridge and walk for approximately 5-7 minutes and you will reach the hostel!
You can also take a cab from the airport what will cost you about 25-30 euro’s for a single trip and it will take you about 25-30 minutes, depending on the traffic.
The hostel is also perfectly located to a lot of Dublin Hotspots. You can walk almost everywhere. From the shopping street to one of the distillery’s or famous Pubs, the Gen is at the perfect location!
Also as a lady traveler I must say that it is in a very safe area as well. I walked back from the city center to the hostel in the middle of the night. It took about 15 minutes (this can totally be faster normally but I just walk slow) and even though I ran in to some drunk people, they are totally in their own little world and I was not bothered at all.
As I said, the Generator caters to all your wishes. For the budget traveler, there are dorms where you can stay and the prices currently start 8,50 euro and you can get a private room from 39 euro’s.
What I also really like about the hostel is that they have a special all female dorm for all the lady travelers!
And the cool thing is that they even have a room with a jacuzzi for the female travelers!
I mean, this sounds more like a luxury hotel now, doesn’t it?
The Generator does offer a breakfast service at a really cheap price. The breakfast is basic but it has everything you need to fill your tummy. Break, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, coffee and juice. If you would like to have a bit more of an extensive breakfast you can always go to the Cafe to enjoy a wider variety of food and drinks. This is a la carte and not included in the standard breakfast package but definitely worth it.
THE ROOMS I HAVE STAYED IN:
My first night I have stayed in a private room that could accommodate up to 3 people. There was a single bed and a double bed and the room comes with an ensuite bathroom and I even had a small balcony.
The room was quite spacious and very clean. I also liked the design. The wooden furniture created a cool vibe and the Cloud Mural was pretty cool too!
This room is perfect for solo travelers or people who are on a business trip but still are on a budget. You have the privacy of your own room but if you like company you can go to one of the hang out areas and meet new friends!
The second night I stayed in a mixed dorm room. Mixed dorms are always a big adventure for me but what I have noticed after visiting my 3rd Generator Hostel (Londen and Copenhagen were the other two) is that The Generator Hostel really attracts a cool crowd. Trendy Travelers that like to stay in a trendy place. I have met some great people during my stay and I am sure that if you will chose to stay in the Gen too that you will make some awesome new friends too!
Both rooms were incredibly clean. The beds were comfy too! In the dorm I also had an ensuite bathroom only here I had to share it with all my roommates. But sharing a bathroom with 8 people is still okay! The rooms were really spacious. Good thing: you have your own space underneath your bed where you can keep your luggage so you don’t have to store this in the middle of the room. Of course some travelers still do this. Haha. But at least you have the opportunity to store your luggage and to keep your valuables safe because you can lock your storage with your own lock!
Would I recommend this hostel?
I would definitely recommend this hostel to all the travelers. From female travelers, couple travelers, businesspeople or just the average backpacker. This hostel will be the perfect place for you to stay.
The people working in the hostel are super friendly and very helpful. They will give you great tips on what to do, visit and they will make sure that your trip to Dublin is unforgettable!
From private rooms, to mixed dorms. From one of the many events that they organize to the perfect location. Yes, The Gen in Dublin is definitely the place to be on your next visit to Dublin!

Bali probably has the most beautiful collection of luxury, boutique en design hotels and villa’s in the entire world. One complex is more beautiful and luxurious than the other and it is my job to take you on a journey through these beautiful resorts. I want you to see all these beautiful places so we can get lost together. I have the privilege of staying in these places and it gives me great joy to share my moments with you.
Today I will be sharing my experience about my stay at The Edge in Bali.
The Edge is part of the Mesa hotels and resorts and I must say, from all the places I have ever stayed in, this is by far the best place so far. The Edge is in it’s league of it’s own. Nothing can compare to the beauty and luxury of this resort. Everything is impeccable.
From the 24/7 personal butler services, to the treatments at their own private Spa. From the delicious haute cuisine menu to the million dollar views you have from every angle. The Edge is definitely the place to be if you enjoy only the best things in life.
At the Edge nothing is impossible. You want something? They will make it happen for you. I was highly impressed with the service even before I arrived at the venue. I was in touch with my personal butler by email before my arrival to set everything up. From the type of pillow that I preferred to the Spa menu that was send so I could see what treatment I preferred. (A full review on this will follow) – Oh, even the welcome drink was prepared because I could let them know in advance which one I wanted. – Perfection!
LOCATION- How to get there
The Edge is set within the traditional village of Pecatu. This might not be the most familiar place in Bali for the travels so let’s just say that it is a 5 minute drive from Uluwatu and approximately a 35 minute drive from Ngurah Rai Airport. It is very easy to reach the resort because the Edge offers a complimentary transfer and pickup service. This transfer is done by a driver and your personal butler will accompany you for the trip. When I was picked up from my hotel in Uluwatu to bring me to the Edge I was picked up in a luxury vehicle. Directly upon entering the vehicle the butler introduced himself and gave me great information about the venue. What I also absolutely adored was that while driving towards the resort the butler showed me a presentation with lots of beautiful pictures of the venue on the iPad while offering me water, a refreshing towel and some chocolates- Yes, the million dollar treatment started from the get go!
The Edge is build literally on ‘The Edge’ making it one of the highest points in Bali where I have ever been. Because you are on this ‘Edge’ you will have a fantastic view overlooking the clear blue ocean and trust me while I say that it is the perfect spot for pink sky sunsets!
The edge is the perfect location because from there you can go everywhere. Just ask your butler for tips and he will give you all the ins and outs about Bali. You can easily go to a beautiful beach like Dreamland in Jimbaran or have a golf session in Nusa Dua. Every place is easy to reach from the Edge because even though it might be a bit of a drive, your butler will take good care of you and make sure you will reach there in all comfort!
At the Edge it is all about quality and not about quantity. You can see that in everything. The villa resort is so exclusive that it ‘only’ has 3 villa’s.
The Mood ( a 2 bedroom Villa)
The Cliff ( a 3 bedroom Villa)
The View ( a 5 bedroom Villa)
I had the pleasure and honor to stay in the 5 bedroom villa that can accommodate 10 people. But more about that later on.
Even though all the villa’s come with their own private swimming pool (some with several swimming pools) there is also a common area where you can take a dip or have a tanning session while enjoying a cocktail that is freshly made by one of the fantastic staff members. This common area is connected to the Spa
THE VIEW- The villa I have stayed in
I stayed in the 5 bedroom villa named ‘The View”. When you enter the villa you will understand why it is called ‘The View’. When you go outside, on your private terrace where you have not one, but 2 swimming pools you will see the most magnificent views that you have ever seen, overlooking Bali, also known as the Island of the Gods. The view of the ocean is incredibly beautiful. Just for a moment you will forget all the bad things in your life because the beauty of the villa and it’s views are so incredibly beautiful.
The villa has 2 floors. The top floor has 2 master bedrooms. Both with their own million dollar view. The windows from the floor to the ceiling will create the best morning view you will ever have. When you wake up you will see the clear blue sky and the ocean. You will immediately feel that you are in paradise. Oh, and if that won’t do the trick for you, you will have palm trees in your own garden too.
All the rooms are beautifully decorated and you will see the Eastern world fuse with the Western world. It has all the luxuries from the Western standards but with beautiful Asian and Balinese details. All the details in the villa are definitely the ‘best of both worlds’.
On the ground floor you also have the kitchen area and the living room. The living room comes with a big comfortable couch and again, you will have a fantastic view of the scenery. And perhaps you would like to play some piano? This is also not a problem because the living room comes with it’s own piano so you can let all your musical talent out and create some lovely tunes!
On the Lower Ground Floor, because ‘basement’ just does not sound right while talking about this luxury villa, you will have 3 other bedrooms. All the bedrooms come with their own bathroom including a shower and a bath tub. Downstairs you also have a living area and even a wine celler.
2 highlights from this Lower Ground Floor area are the home cinema where you can watch your favorite movie in your own private theatre and the kids playroom. The playroom comes with the best toys ( I even fell in love with Mr. Teddy :)) and the best games like a nintendo, wii, playstation and so on. All the toys are renewed every 3 months so you can be sure that you will have great new toys to play with (or let your kids play with).
FOOD AND BEVERAGES- Fantastic food and delicious drinks
At the edge they offer only the best things so you can imagine what this means for the food and drinks. The most delicious meals you will ever have in your life will be in this place, I can guarantee you that. They have a menu where they offer a big variety of food. From local dishes to Western food- there is something on the menu for everyone. They also do offer personalized menu’s and again, whatever you want, your butler will make sure you will have it.
Funny anecdote: While we got the tour through the villa the manager told us that he once had guests that preferred Scottish salmon. But let’s be honest, where will you find Scottish salmon in Bali? You just don’t. So they flew it in. Just for this one guest and his company. If that isn’t top notch service I do not know what is. (of course this service has it’s own price tag but hey, nothing is impossible :))
I have tried so many things from the menu but I must say I have found my love in the lychee cocktail, the grilled lamb chops and the creme brûlée was the best one I ever had. And trust me, I have tasted my fave dessert in over 20 different places but the one in the Edge is just sublime.
FOR WHO?- Should you stay in the Edge?
YES YES AND YES- You definitely should if you ever have the chance. The Edge is a beautiful resort that caters to all your dreams and wishes. Because The Edge offers 3 different villa’s it is suitable for a large target audience but you must love only the best things in life. The Edge is focussed on the luxury traveler, the city expats that are looking for their sweet island escapes and it won’t surpass you that they also cater to celebs from over the entire world. Fredrik, are you the next celeb that will stay here? I thinks so! You belong here honey!
The resort is perfect for a romantic getaway or even a corporate trip. If you are going on a teambuilding trip please look in to this lovely resort since you can rent the entire property too and this will be the best place for you to stay, I can guarantee you this.
If you are visiting with your family it is perfect too. I would recommend you to stay in the villa ‘The View’ because you will have plenty of space and a kids playroom and home theatre so there will be entertainment for all.
The villa is so amazing, I don’t think you would want to leave it ever again…

While all our fave shows are on their seasonal, got cancelled or even ended (boooo, Glee 😦 ) stop we must discover new shows. And this show that I will discuss today is a long anticipated show by the creator of Glee, Ryan Murphy called Scream Queens.
In short: Basically you have some Dexter’ish murders, some Gossip Girl fashion, some Scream (the movie) like murders and some PLL like mysteries.
The first season will be centered on a series of murders involving the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority where the mainbitch, a.k.a the Queen B is played by Emma Roberts. (Bling Ring, Wild Child and We are the Millers). She plays Chanel, a slightly bitchier version of our all time fave Blair Waldorf and she obvi has her own set of minions. Where Blair would still have the audacity of calling her minions by their own name, Chanel just calles them Chanel no 1, Chanel no 2 and so on. Fun Fact, Ariana Grande plays Chanel no 2 🙂
So what is it about?
The story begins with a clip from 1995, where there is a prom party going on in the Kappa Kappa Tau house. One of the girls comes running down stairs, to the party with hands on her blood and hands and says; “this is not my blood’. The sorority sisters run upstairs and find one of their own ‘sisters’ in a bath tub, she just gave birth to a baby and claims she did not know she was pregnant. The Queen B, selfish as she is says that she can’t have a baby and that it will ruin her night. The other sorority girls panic and at some point the song by TLC-Waterfal comes up and the than Queen B says that that is her jam and she must dance to it and she and her minions go downstairs to party. When the song is over they go back upstairs and find that the girl that just gave birth has died but the baby is still alive…
Now 20 years later in 2015 there are all kind of weird murders on campus where it seems like the girls from the sorority house Kappa Kappa Tau are the targets. It is believed that the ‘mystery baby’ (is it one of the sorority girls, is it the stalker guy from Starbucks that was stalking Chanel previously) is the murderer and he murders the girls one by one in a red devil costume. (oh yea, Rachel Berry aka Lea Michelle plays in Scream Queens too as the awkward and kinda scary Neck Brace Girl :))
I know it all sounds really creepy but this ‘horror comedy’ is actually really funny. The murders aren’t done really scary and it won’t give you nightmares. It is a dark comedy with a little twist. For example, while the red devil tries to kill one of the sorority girls ( I will mention who in the spoilers down below) he is texting her that he is going to kill her while standing in front of her. She than texts back to him and she ends up getting stabbed. Somehow she survives this and she crawls to her computer to post a #twitterupdate about her being stabbed, cause that is obviously the most logical thing to do when you are stabbed. Just before she can press ‘enter’ she gets stabbed again and than dies. At least you think that she dies. A few moments later she opens her eyes again, presses enter’ and than ‘dies for real’. Basically, it is al meant to be funny, however, some ways of the murders are quite frightening if you think that it could happen in real life too but because it is brought in a way that almost seems like a mockery it becomes weirdly funny!
If you are bored with the seasonal stops and you are in to shows like Glee, PLL, GG and Dexter, this is definitely a show for you. Also if you like ridiculously hot people, watch the show. I mean, there is a guy that is supposed to be the father of one of the girls, but he is GOR-GEOUS and definitely a D.I.L.F haha.
And if you need some bitchy one liners, Chanel got you! You will learn a lot from that mean girl! 🙂
I can’t wait to see how the other 13 episodes will be (season 1 will have 15 episode)!
If you do not want to read spoilers, stop here!
* In the first 2 episodes there will be a lot of deaths already. The girl I was talking about, that tweets about her own death is our girl Ariana G a.k.a Chanel no2 . She will die but still is able to tweet about her own death.
* Alan Thicke and Chad Michael Murray (OTH)will both make a special guest star appearance later in the season
*Nick Jonas plays the gay (but is he really gay?) guy Boone who get’s murdered in the second episode but is not really dead.
*Deaf Taylor Swift (yes that is actually one of the sorority girls) get’s murdered in the first episode while a lawn mower drives over her head (YUK)
So today is an exciting day. Review 1 of my Bali trip is online! Since I have lived in Bali before I know all the hotspots and best cities to visit. I will dedicate another post to that so I can share all my insider tips with you guys!
Today I will take you to the lovely city of Ubud. Ubud is a beautiful city in Bali that is known for the beautiful green nature and rice paddy’s. It also has the most beautiful villa’s and resorts to relax after a day well spend discovering the beauty of Ubud.
The Kamandalu Resort is probably one of Ubud’s best resorts!
The Kamandalu Resort is like ‚Little Ubud within Ubud itself’- The resort almost feels like a little village with a bunch of villa’s surrounded by the beauty of the Nature. The Kamandalu Ubud is a 5 star boutique resort that will make you feel like you are in Bali due to the traditional Balinese style villa’s but with all the luxuries that you could possibly think of and this all while being surrounded by rice paddies and tropical green forests.
But let’s start at the beginning. When I arrived I was escorted to the front desk. I thought that this was the place where I would check in. The first thing I noticed was the openness of the lobby. It is very big and spacious and you immediately get a luxury vibe. I handed the lovely lady at the frontdesk my passport and when she looked up my reservation she saw that I was staying at one of the „Pool Villa’s”.
She told me that due to my accommodation type, the check in would be at the private lounge and she escorted us downstairs to the V.I.P lounge called the “Village Club’. Here we were greeted by our butler. He offered us our welcome drink and gave us all the information that we would need during our trip. He explained that this private V.I.P lounge was for all the guests that were staying in the villa’s You could come here and enjoy complimentary thee, coffee and fruits during the entire day and you were entitled of one complimentary drink such as a delicious cocktail during the day.
After receiving all the information we were guided to our villa. I noticed how big this complex actually is and that there are a lot of villa’s at the resort. It really felt like walking in a village, passing all the doors of the gardens where the villa’s were located. We passed the main pool that was open for all guests and also the infinity pool. After a 5 minute walk we got to our Villa.
THE BEDROOM:The butler opened the door to our little complex where our villa was located and walked towards the door of our villa. When he opened the door and I walked in I was amazed. It looked so beautiful! When you walk in, directly at your right side you have the closed with a safe and the minibar. The butler explained that all the items that were currently in the minibar would be complimentary but all the refills would be chargeable. There were 10 drinks in total that were complimentary.
4 waters, 2 coke’s, 1 diet coke, one tonic and 2 bintang beers. There were also some complimentary snacks such as honey roasted peanuts and kit kat chocolate bars!
Directly in front of the front door and left of the minibar there is a table with a big mirror where you could fix your hair and make up before leaving the villa.
On the left side of the very spacious room was the beautiful bed located. What I loved about this room is that they kept the traditional Bali vibe alive while still creating a luxury vibe.
The bathroom was gorgeous. I loved the big bathtub in the midst of the bathroom, one where you could take a bath and also be able to watch outside and enjoy your lovely private pool. There was a double sink, kind of like a ‚his and hers’ one and the bathroom was very spacious. The toilet is also located in the bathroom and is separated by a small wall from the sink area. What I also loved is that they had an outside rain shower. Taking a shower outside, in the middle of the night amongst the stars is definitely something you should try at least ones.
The garden was fantastic. We had our own private pool and also a bengong ( A traditional outdoor day bed). Chilling and relaxing in your bengong while overlooking the tropical forrest felt like a dream come true. The walk through the water to the bengong was amazing. I thought that this was a very clever way of creating a tropical environment.
Beside having your own private pool (That all the villa’s have besides the Garden Villa), the resort also has 2 pools that are available for all the guests. The main pool with a cool bar in the pool, yes you have read that right and also a gorgeous infinity pool overlooking the nature!
– Large free-form swimming pool
– Kid’s swimming pool
– Swim-up bar
– Infinity Pool
– Infinity Deck
– Rumah Yoga
– Alun Alun
– Tour desk with private car transfer and personal guide services
– Andalu Shop for Balinese arts, crafts and sundries
– Postal and foreign currencies exchange services
– Baby cots and babysitting services upon request.
– Complimentary wi-fi internet connection at our villa and public areas
– Complimentary scheduled shuttle service to Ubud center starting from 10 am until 9 pm
Breakfast is served in the restaurant of the resort in the mainbuilding. You can chose to have your breakfast inside or on the terrace where you will enjoy your croissant while enjoying the million dollar view of the rice paddies and tropical forrest.
There is an eggstation and waffle station which is pretty cool because you can get your omelette or waffle that the staff will make especially for you!
There is also a possibility to juice your own fresh juice or let one of the staff members do this for you- JUMMY!
The breakfast is also a mix of Asian and Western cuisine. They offer traditional Indonesian food that can vary from day to day but also western pastries, saussages and bacon and there is even a ‘create your own salad’ bar!
There are many healthy choices and and a lot to chose from. The Breakfast at the Kamandalu definitely gets an A+!
The Kamandalu Resort is located in Ubud, down below you can find the address:
Jalan Raya Andong
Banjar Nagi, Ubud
Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesië
The resort is only a 10 minute drive away from the city centre of Bali. The Resort offers free shuttle bus service to and from the city center that go multiple times a day.
The Kamandalu Resort is a beautiful luxury resort that will meet all your expectations. It is a perfect resort to kick back and relax after spending a day in the vibrant and dynamic Ubud, strolling down the traditional Ubud markets. You will be able to relax and feel like a million bucks in this beautiful resort with friendly staff to cater to all your wishes. You can stay in the privacy of your own villa all go to one of the 2 pools that is available for everyone staying in the resort. If you want to take a yoga class in the mornings, this is possible! They also organise aqua robic classes so you do not have to worry about getting out of shape during your stay in the resort!
I would recommend this resort for couples as it is the perfect romantic getaway but it is also perfect for a friends vacay. There are villa’s with several bedrooms which make it perfect for a holiday vacay too. Basically, this lovely resort is for all the luxury lovers who appreciate luxury but also like to have the traditional ‘Bali Vibe’ arround them!
