5 things every blogger should stop posting

Hey loves,

I decided to write this post after endlesly stroling down blogs, instagrams and pinterest accounts and I noticed something that should stop NOW.

Blogging is a way of showing our creativity, our love for media and arts, fashion, design, lifestyle, travel, food or whatever is your fave topic to write about. However, what I have noticed, and I am also guilty of myself is certain things that a lot of us do. We kind of copy each others styles and why? I am sure we all are very creative but for some reason we go with the ‘comfortable choice’ often and I think that that is a shame.

What if we actually started to challenging each other again, our selves again in to finding our creativity and originality?

I really think our blogs/ IG feeds will look so much better. And we will separate ourselves a bit more and become ‘unique’ again.

Do you recognize any of these things? Perhaps, like myself, you do or did them too..

Laduree macarons- Who does not love these little pieces of heaven?
I must say, I am addicted to these macarons too, especially the pistashio ones but why is it that whenever I am on any random beauty or lifestyle blog I will find at least one macarons pic?
I am not saying that you should not post these but perhaps you can place them in a different setting?

If you don’t know what PSL stands for you have missed out on    something quite ‘big’. Starbucks big I mean. The pumpkin spiced latte is a seasonal Starbucks drink that returns every fall and you can enjoy this drink untill halloween. I can not tell you how many PSL’s I have seen in my feed the past month. Hey, I even posted one myself. LAME! Haha. Maybe something we should not do next year? And if you actually do like the PSL and you purchase this one, maybe we can find other ways of displaying this cup?

I mean come on, we put this ‘trend’ to bed in 2013 no? Sometimes I still see bloggers post their infamous bathroom selfie and to make the situation a bit worse, I see a lot of duckfaces. Yes, still. Have I made bathroom selfies? Yes! Do I post pictures with the accessional duckface? I certainly did. But all good things (and bad things haha) should come to an end. If even the selfiequeen Kim K. is not doing this anymore, why are you?

To be totally honest, I never really understood the big hype around mason jars but for some reason, it really became a ‘thing’. I could not open one IG account or I saw one of these jars. Is it a fun way of displaying your healthy smoothie? Yes it is! But there are so many other things / glasses/ jarshaped thingies you can display your smoothie in. I am so curious what we can create, the beautiful pics we can take if we just look a bit outside of the  box  masonjar.

Seriously? We did this pose like 5 years ago. Why are we still doing it? Is it a popular tag? Yes it is. Do I expect us to take pics in cat like positions now? No I don’t- But I am sure we can create a more exciting pose than this one, no? If you want to show your outfit, let someone take a cool outfit pic. You want to high light your shoes? Work from different angles and not only the ‘straight from above’ angle. You feel me?
These 5 things are things I definitely did in the past so I am not judging your for doing it too. I just hope this post will inspire you to do different things. To post original content. I can not wait to see your pictures !

Do you recognize any of these 5 things and what is the thing you think bloggers stop posting now?

Dutch Vibes: Dobe Globe Goes Dutch!

Hey lieve mensen!

Laat het mij even weten!

HOTEL REVIEW: Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Oslo

Hey lovelies,

I went to Oslo for my birthday weekend and one of the hotels I have stayed in is the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Oslo! This beautiful 4 star hotel is in the midst of the center of Oslo and definitely worth visiting! Oslo is such a great city to visit because there is so much to see and to do and if you are looking for the perfect place to stay, a place with beautiful rooms, fantastic views, a sauna and a pool and oh wait, your own SKYBAR, The Oslo Plaza is definitely the place for you!

The view from the hotel room on the 27th floor.

When you arrive at Gardermoen Airport you can take a train to Oslo city center. You have the standard train and the fast train that will go to “Oslo Sentralstasjon”. The hotel is located in the city center of Oslo and very conveniently almost directly next to the Central Station of Oslo as you can see in the map below. From the Central Station it is just a 5 minute walk and therefor very easy to reach. Schermafbeelding 2015-11-15 om 21.53.11The hotel is located in a nice area and also a 5 minute walk away from a shopping mall!
The Oslo City Mall is definitely worth visiting and if you are there, go to the Froyo Shop on the first floor for some delish Froyo!

Oslo Plaza

I had the pleasure of staying on the 27th floor so you can imagine how great my view was.
I could see all over Oslo and it was just magnificent.  I stayed in room 2703 and I have to say, the room was quite spacious.Schermafbeelding 2015-11-15 om 22.32.38A closer look to what I was actually seeing: Schermafbeelding 2015-11-15 om 22.32.49
SO HOW DOES THE ROOM LOOK YOU MIGHT ASK? – let me try to paint you a picture:
When you enter the room you will see some cabinets at your left side where you can place your luggage and hang your coats. There is also a full-size mirror which is great if you want to do a last minute outfit check before leaving the room. On the right side you have a door that will lead you to your bathroom. My bathroom also came with a bathtub which was great.

The bathroom at the Radisson Blu Plaza hotel!

Directly next to the bathroom door on the left side you had your ‘working corner’ where you could easily sit with your laptop at the desk provided working on your website like I did, or just on some other business.

Radisson Blu Plaza Room view

Next to your ‘office’ area you will find the bed. The amazingly comfy bed! The room also has a big screen T.V if you decide to have a nice night in. On the left side of the bed, directly next to window you have a nice sofa where you can relax and enjoy the magnificent view!

Oslo Plaza

The room also has a minibar filled with a lot of goodies:

Close up Mini Bar at the Radisson Oslo Plaza Hotel in Norway
The minibar at the Radisson Blu Plaza in Oslo

A big plus, there is a mini coffee making machine so before heading down to breakfast you can already make your own coffee in your room. For me this is such a luxury because I honestly can not function without a cup of coffee in the morning. Haha!

The hotel room at the Oslo Plaza

The pool at the Oslo Plaza

The hotel also comes with its own sauna and pool. A perfect way to start your day is to swim and enjoy some quality time in the sauna. The Oslo Plaza offers both. What I thought was really cool is that in the sauna you will again have an magnificent view. Even in the sauna it’s self you have this small window that ables you to look outside and enjoy the beauty of Oslo- if that is not amazing I do not know what is.

The view from the sauna

Also in both the sauna area as in the pool area the entire space is been surrounded by big windows so where ever you go, you can enjoy the gorgeousness of Oslo by just peeking out of your window!

BREAKFAST:OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAs a foodlover the breakfast for me is very important. Also, the breakfast is your most important meal of the day so I always take extra notice when I do these reviews on what hotels are actually offering. They offered several pastries like croissants and chocolate buns but also normal bread.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWhat really stood out for me was the different kind of fish they served at breakfast. I think eating fish at breakfast is a typically Norwegian thing. Even though I love fish it is not for me in the morning, however a little bit of smoked salmon could never hurt so I sticked with the salmon and some blue cheese.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

The make your own salad and fruit bar!

They also offered a make your own salad bar where they provided you with fresh greens and veggies and all kinds of oils and dressings.

If you are more in the mood for some yogh or some milk with some fresh fruit, have no fear! That is possible too. Cool fact; they had all kinds of milk. From soya milk, to ‘normal’ milk to lactose free milk, it was all available!

Tea time!
The Cereal Bar!

If you are just in the mood for some cereal with seeds and nuts, you can create your own delishhhh bowl!

There were also hot meals available. From noodles to scrambled eggs, warm veggies to beans and potatoes.

The Radisson Blu Plaza Oslo has it’s own Sky Bar and it is fantastic. De decor is in blue, grey tones and it just fits the city of Oslo so well. Come here to enjoy one of their fantastic cocktails while looking over the City !

Sky Bar Oslo

If you are in to luxury and beauty than this is the hotel for you. This hotel will cater to all your wishes. Besides having an amazing room with probably the comfiest bed you will ever sleep in, the hotel also comes with a pool, a sauna and even it’s own sky bar. The hotel is perfectly located and very easy to reach. I would recommend this hotel to business people, friends traveling and couples.

If you have about 3,5 million followers on IG you must be doing something right, right?
They have started the trend where couples take pictures, holding hands, where you only see the girl from the back and the guys hand holding her. The pictures focus more on the view than on the people in it. Well okay, in their case it is a bit different because Nataly is always as equally stunning as the background but still. They visit the most beautiful places and Murad is definitely a fantastic photographer. He captures his wife and the background in the most beautiful way and that truly makes his Instagram account an inspiring one!

If the Eiffel Tower could talk…

12243284_463226587217634_3289609584534959856_nIf the Eiffel tower could talk, I am sure she could tell us many beautiful stories. Stories of everything she had ever seen. Stories of every  marriage proposal that has been done in front of her by lovebirds. Stories of people taking selfies with her because they were struck by her beauty.

If the Eiffel Tower could talk she would tell us about the beauty of her city. About all the little streets and corners that Paris has. About the beautiful architecture, the cool Parisian hotspots, restaurants, bars, clubs. She would tell us about all the musea and about her special bond with the Mona Lisa. She would tell us about the beauty of its people and about the beauty of her country.

If the Eiffel Tower could talk she would tell us how, every night, she does her best to shine bright in her light show and every night she gives us her all so we can enjoy her. She would do her best to contribute to our lovely Paris memories.

But after yesterday, even if the Eiffel Tower could talk, she would decide not too. She would not be able to talk because her heart is aching and breaking. She is devastated. The lights from her lightshow turn in to tears. She can only cry. For her city, for her people, for the visitors, for humanity.

My dear Eiffel Tower- You are the reason why we call Paris the city of lights, the city of love. You are beautiful and incredibly strong. I hope you will keep being the light in the city of lights and don’t let it turn in to the darkness. I hope you can be the light on a day where everyone probably needs you the most. I hope you will inspire us to stick together and not to fall apart. To unite and be strong and beautiful like you are. Don’t let our hearts fill with hate towards the ignorant ones.  My beloved Eiffel Tower, I hope your broken heart will heal again and that you will decide to talk and tell us that everything will be okay. Because the only one that can do that for Paris, is you. Your people need you. Your people love you.

13 Fun and original things to do on Friday the 13th!

Hey lovelies!

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH! YES, I do celebrate this day. Like any other day I will find an excuse to make something special out of it : )
Friday the 13th has always been a day for the superstitious people amongst us that is a bit ‘scary’. We avoid holding mirrors, cause we don’t want to break that in order to get 7 years of bad luck, we avoid cats cause we don’t want to run in to a black on and we certainly do not walk under ladders- which I think you should not do at all haha.

Nobody wants bad luck and therefor I created a list of 13 fun things you can do on Friday the 13th. And if you are not superstitious at all, you can obviously do these things on any random Friday night.

I mean, come on. BEST MOVIE EVER! Well, okay, not entirely true but it is a perfect movie to watch on Friday the 13th.

After mean girls it is totally time for a GG marathon. Some Chuck and Blair drama will get your mind of the bad luck thingie.

Make a fool out of your self. Dance to your fave music while pretending you are the next Lady Gaga. Or Michael Jackson. Or Adele- who ever floats your boat.

YES! I mean, it is Friday night and chocolate should be your best friend.
Get all kinds of chocolates and just stuff your self with it, you deserve it guuurll!

Wait, what? What is this you might ask. I often do this with my girls. We all bring our old make up, sometimes even crayons, depends on how tipsy we are and we just paint each others faces. I have been a cat before, but one that looked like it came from Space. Pink, blue purple, greenish. I looked fantastic. It sounds weird but it is actually a lot of fun.

Organize a party and ask all the people that are coming over to bring a bottle of wine. Get a cheese platter and the party can start. It is a fun way of getting drunk’ish in your own home. Don’t mix different alcohols tho. If you are having a wine tasting stick with the wine.

Okay, I assume you don’t live in a mansion so it will be kind of weird playing this game but it can be so much fun. You notice that when you don’t have that many places to hide, I mean, how many people can fit under your bed, that you will get creative in ways you never thought you could. One time one of my friends was hiding in my kitchen cabinet. It was fantastic. – However we could not get him out tho so be careful. Haha.

Did I just go there? Yes I did! Are we back in high school? YES WE ARE!
Remember that thrill of calling your crush, hearing his voice and than hang up again? I certainly do. I stalked all my crushes by calling them and hanging up. Yea, I was (lame) awesome like that! It is even more fun when you do it when you are with your friends. Trust me, you will feel like a higschool girl again 🙂

Ever really wanted to star in your own girl band? OBVIOUSLY ! Do you always feel like you are that 6th spice girl? Well this is your time to shine baby. When you are hanging out with your friends, write some lyrics, make some beats and create that million dollar hit song! Perform that shit and tape it- Memories for life, I can guarantee you that.

Watch your favorite disney movie and after that have a sing a long night. A whole new world? Kiss the girl? Let it go? Go for it! You will have so much fun. You can be your favorite Disney character, even if it is for one night!

When you are with your friends it is often great to discuss your futures. What do you want in life, where will you stand an exact year from now? Write letters to the future you, put them in a box and burry them somewhere only you and your friends no where. PLEASE, DO REMEMBER WHERE YOU DID THIS! Haha..Next year you will go back and you will ‘unburry’ these letters and you will discuss them together. It is always so fun to see what predictions came true and how much has changed in a year….

Screw the truth. I mean, you don’t need the truth on Friday the 13th. Play dare or dare (pun intended) and give each other funny challenges. Capture all these challenges in pictures. You will need them for the next step.

Scrapbooking? I hear you thinking it: GAAAAY! It kinda is, but it is awesome! YES I will admit it, I am a scrapbookfreakaddict! It is awesome. Print out all the pictures from your fun night with your friends and create a scrapbook  poster. You can probably not fill an entire book with pics from one night so make a poster or a few pages and you will always remember the best Friday the 13th you ever had.

These were my tips, what are yours? What will you do tomorrow?

Girl Solo Travels – 5 tips from a female travelblogger to start with solo travels!

Hey lovelies,

This post is for all my ladies out there. Yea you girl! I wrote this post specially for you because I want to inspire you. I want to trigger something inside you to do the thing that I love to do the most: TRAVEL!

If you have never solo traveled before but you want to see if it might be something for you too take these 5 steps and allow me to guide you through it!

Before packing your backpack and traveling to the other side of the world, go out there and test the waters a bit. See if solo traveling is something for you. Pick a destination close to home so it will still feel same for you, jump on a plane and just go there. Start with just a long weekend and see how you feel. Of course you can not compare 3-5 days with 3-5 months but you will get a good feeling and vibe of the ‘traveling alone’ part. Based on that feeling you can decide if that is something you would like to pursue a bit more.

When you are out there on the road you often don’t have the luxury of ‘planning’ everything in advance. For your first solo travel I will definitely recommend you to at least plan everything you can plan about this trip in advance. Your planning skills will be well tested while being out on the road so let’s see how you do this. When looking for an accommodation read online reviews. Not everyone has the luxury to stay in expensive hotels but there are really good and affordable hostels out there as well. The one that I have recently stayed in, The Generator in Dublin was amazing. They even only had an all female dorm room what creates a safer environment if you are a lady traveler out on your first solo travel. Chose an accommodation and just go for it!

Have you researched the city that you are going too?  Do you know where to go to once you got there. Do you know what you want to do when you visit the city? Perhaps a museum or a shopping street. Get a map and a notebook and write down all the things you want to do and how to get there. If you are prepared you will feel more comfortable with your self and your solo traveling skills. Of course you do not have to do everything that you have on your schedule but it often helps when you have an idea on what you can do and how to go there.

Spontaniousity- is that even a word? I do not thinks so. Haha. But you get my point right. I recommended you to make a planning in pointer 3 because what I often notice when I talk to first time solo travelers is that they go to a destination and they don’t have a clue on what to actually do there and than the fear kicks in and they feel unsafe. If you have a planning and you know what you could do, it will give you some relieve. Often what you will have during solo traveling, is the pleasure of meeting random people. Be open to that and let things happen. If someone invites you to join for an event later say YES! Who know what kind of great experiences you will have and what kind of new people you will meet!
*Please always be careful though, when someone invites you to their home and you don’t know that person well, don’t do it. Always trust your gut and your instinct. But when it is at a public event, a cafe or a bar, do it! You will be pleasantly surprised.

Always be safe. Solotraveling is fun, not scary. It will allow you to get to know your self in ways you never could when you just stay in your own save little environment back home. You will develop some serious James Bond’ish skills and you will learn how to take care of your self because you are the only person out there that takes care of you on your trips. Always trust your instincts and when something does not feel right, don’t do it.

If you follow these 5 steps I am sure you will have a great first impression on what solo traveling is and feels like. I am so curious on how you will experience your first solo experience. Have you ever solo traveled before? How was that for you?

Review: The Generator in Dublin

Hey lovelies,

Dublin is an awesome city, definitely worth visiting and when you go to Dublin you of course need a place to stay. No worries, I got the perfect place for you that is suitable for everyone no matter what your budget is. The Generator in Dublin is part of the Generator Hostels with currently 11 hostels in 10 different cities through Europe.

I had the pleasure to visit the hostel in London last year: *Click here for review! and this year I thought it was time to visit another one. I chose the hostel in Dublin and this truly was a great decision. For me, I don’t have a lot of experiences with hostels but I always have this scary image of it. Dirty rooms, shitty beds, and nasty showers. At least, that is what I have heard of my traveling friends who actually stay in hostels. This might be a bit narrow minded of me but it does influence me. Therefor, when I discovered the Generator Hostels I was so pleasantly surprised how beautiful, clean and amazing it actually is.
The cater to everyone wishes with different roomtypes, but that will follow in a bit.

LOCATION:Schermafbeelding 2015-11-08 om 21.30.21 The Generator Dublin is in a very good location. It is easy to reach rom the airport, you can take a bus directly from the airport to the Hostel. The Airlink 747 is your link to the city center. You can get on the Airlink express from outside both airport terminals every 15 mins for only €6 single or €10 return. You need to get off at Ushers Quay.  From Ushers Quay the hostel is just a short walk away. You have to cross a bridge and walk for approximately 5-7 minutes and you will reach the hostel!

You can also take a cab from the airport what will cost you about 25-30 euro’s for a single trip and it will take you about 25-30 minutes, depending on the traffic.

The hostel is also perfectly located to a lot of Dublin Hotspots. You can walk almost everywhere. From the shopping street to one of the distillery’s or famous Pubs, the Gen is at the perfect location!
Also as a lady traveler I must say that it is in a very safe area as well. I walked back from the city center to the hostel in the middle of the night. It took about 15 minutes (this can totally be faster normally but I just walk slow) and even though I ran in to some drunk people, they are totally in their own little world and I was not bothered at all.

As I said, the Generator caters to all your wishes. For the budget traveler, there are dorms where you can stay and the prices currently start 8,50 euro and you can get a private room from 39 euro’s.
Schermafbeelding 2015-11-08 om 21.43.38 Schermafbeelding 2015-11-08 om 21.43.27What I also really like about the hostel is that they have a special all female dorm for all the lady travelers!
And the cool thing is that they even have a room with a jacuzzi for the female travelers!
I mean, this sounds more like a luxury hotel now, doesn’t it?

The Generator does offer a breakfast service at a really cheap price. The breakfast is basic but it has everything you need to fill your tummy. Break, eggs, cheese, yoghurt, fruit, coffee and juice. If you would like to have a bit more of an extensive breakfast you can always go to the Cafe to enjoy a wider variety of food and drinks. This is a la carte and not included in the standard breakfast package but definitely worth it.

My first night I have stayed in a private room that could accommodate up to 3 people. There was a single bed and a double bed and the room comes with an ensuite bathroom and I even had a small balcony.

The room was quite spacious and very clean. I also liked the design. The wooden furniture created a cool vibe and the Cloud Mural was pretty cool too!

This room is perfect for solo travelers or people who are on a business trip but still are on a budget. You have the privacy of your own room but if you like company you can go to one of the hang out areas and meet new friends!

Schermafbeelding 2015-11-08 om 21.16.57The second night I stayed in a mixed dorm room. Mixed dorms are always a big adventure for me but what I have noticed after visiting my 3rd Generator Hostel (Londen and Copenhagen were the other two) is that The Generator Hostel really attracts a cool crowd. Trendy Travelers that like to stay in a trendy place. I have met some great people during my stay and I am sure that if you will chose to stay in the Gen too that you will make some awesome new friends too!

Both rooms were incredibly clean. The beds were comfy too! In the dorm I also had an ensuite bathroom only here I had to share it with all my roommates. But sharing a bathroom with 8 people is still okay! The rooms were really spacious. Good thing: you have your own space underneath your bed where you can keep your luggage so you don’t have to store this in the middle of the room. Of course some travelers still do this. Haha. But at least you have the opportunity to store your luggage and to keep your valuables safe because you can lock your storage with your own lock!

Would I recommend this hostel?
I would definitely recommend this hostel to all the travelers. From female travelers, couple travelers, businesspeople or just the average backpacker. This hostel will be the perfect place for you to stay.
The people working in the hostel are super friendly and very helpful. They will give you great tips on what to do, visit and they will make sure that your trip to Dublin is unforgettable!
From private rooms, to mixed dorms. From one of the many events that they organize to the perfect location. Yes, The Gen in Dublin is definitely the place to be on your next visit to Dublin!

An open letter to my EF BX- How I broke the heart of the love of my life.

I am just an awkward girl that does not know how to handle emotions. When ever something or someone get’s to close I either build a wall or I go all in. And with you baby, I went all in. It felt amazing, wonderful, great- but the danger with going all in is that the only way you can leave is to go all out. Lose everything, literrally everything that you had.

A few years ago I read an interview with Mariah Carey where she said that she’d rather performed in an sold out Staples Center than to sing for family and friends in a small and intimate get together. I could immediately relate to that feeling. I am not a superstar. I am a simple girl with complicated feelings that I don’t know how to process. I rather share my story with the entire world that I see as my sold out staples center instead of having a private conversation with you. Because that is intimate. And intimacy scares the shit out of me.
We had a perfect life. We were that couple that everyone wanted to be. Not a single day passed without cracking each other up. We laughed so  much.. We were compatible in every aspect. Looks, brains, body and soul. You truly were and always be my soulmate. I do believe when God created you he chose me to find you on this earth when our time was there. And we did. We found each other and our relationship was fantastic. But still I left you. And nobody understood why. You did not understand why.
If I would look up the word „Perfection” in the dictionary- there would be your picture directly next to the word. To me you are perfect. Your beautiful blond hair and amazing blue eyes that can still make my heart skip a beat. The way you have dimples in your cheeks when you laugh, the way you brush your hair with your left hand when I make you nervous. Or excited. The way you live you life. Strong, admirable, respectful humble, sexy, powerful, caring, passionately, loving. You are such a proud person. So tough on the outside, and inside. But not with me. With me you were soft. Understanding. Kind. Loving. Everything.
During our entire relationship I never saw you cry. Not even when your best friend died. You felt sad but said that you could not allow your tears to get the “best of you” and that you would only cry if something happened you knew you could not recover from. The day I left you, you cried. So much. And I realized that I broke your heart. But what you must understand is that during the last months of our relationship every single day I was breaking my own heart. And it hurted so much.
I was broken.A broken doll. Damaged goods. You deserved so much more than me. I often wondered why you were with me. Why you did not leave me after everything I put you through. You are such a good man, someone who deserves an equal. Not somebody less than him. Don’t get me wrong. I did not always see myself this way. But at some point in our relationship I just lost it. I lost myself in our relationship. I lost my identity. You and I became a WE but who was I? You knew exactly who you were and what you wanted out of life but I did not know anything else than that I was your girlfriend, your future wife. But that thought suffocated me. I wanted more. I wanted to know how I could define my future. I wanted to find out how I could leave my legacy on this planet and by just being a ‚wife’-. well that just did not cut it.
Remember that scene in the Titanic (you must, I made you watch that movie a million times) when Rose enters the Titanic and she talks about how her life looks perfect on the outside, but on the inside she is screaming. That was me. I was screaming internally every day. Every fucking day. And you noticed. When you looked me in my eyes you saw that I was drowning. You saw that I was hurting and that I could not breath. The endless fights that we had over this where you begged me, screamed at me to tell me what was wrong. I never forget that day where you kneeled down to the ground and hugged my hips, crying and begging me to talk and that you could not ‚Do this anymore’. I froze. I could not say anything, like always. You, the wealthy and powerful businessman, the man nobody could bring down, was brought down, literally, sitting on his knees, begging and crying. You were brought down by the one person that could make you do anything you always said you would never do. But than and there at that moment I made a decision.
I would leave you. The thought that I was the person that put you through this was horrible. The thought that I was your weakness frightened me. I’d rather break my own heart a million times by leaving the best thing that ever happend to me than to even break your heart once. That thought for me was unbearable. It was horrible for me to see you so powerless knowing that you in fact were powerless. There was nothing at that point that you could have done for me. You have not failed me. You asked me this in several text messages after we broke up. I failed myself. I had to regroup and recover. Alone. I needed space. And I took it. Maybe that was selfish of me but we would never have had a happy ending if we continued the way we did.
Even though you wanted to save me and you tried to save me. But the only way you could save me was to let me go and to let me find my own way. I did loved and love that about you. You always tried to save me. To fix me. To be my hero. But you know, sometimes a girl needs to be her own hero and save her self.
“I had everything, but I chose to have nothing, so I can build towards something, anything of my own”.
I gave up everything. The money, the fancy apartment, the summerhouses, the cars with private drivers, the never-ending holidays but most of all, I gave up you.
My life is so different now than when I was with you. I live in my own city apartment, I pay my own rent, I drive my bike to work (yes an actual bicycle, and I really like it)- I started writing and painting again. I went to therapy where I worked really hard on dealing with my depression and with my struggle in finding my own identity again. I am starting to feel like a whole person again.
I never wanted you to complete me. I want to feel complete (or as complete as someone can feel) and I wanted you to be of an added value to my life. I wanted to feel valuable first and now I do. It is a bitter sweet feeling because I left the one I loved the most find myself. I fell out of love with you in order to fall in love with myself again.
And I did. I love myself and maybe more important I like myself again. I like the person who I have become and you are such a big part of the reason why I am where I am today.
You made the bigger sacrifice by letting the love of your love go with no other reason than to allow me to find myself again. You did not do it for you, like how my main reason to leave you was to ‘FIX ME”. Your reasons were pure and not selfish.
You once told me that if you really love something you will set it free (and if it comes back it was ‚Yours’ and if it doesn’t, it never was). I never understood this. Why would you let something that you love go. You would want to keep that close to you right? You would want to fight for something that you love right? But sometimes the best fight is to surrender. And you did. If you love someone, you will put his or her happiness before your own. So even though it did break your heart, you did let me go because you knew that that would be the best thing for me. So in the end, even though I tried to save my self you still did save me. Because if you did not let me go I would never be here where I am today.
It is ironic how we both decided to break our own hearts so we did not had to break each others hearts.
I had time to heal my heart and if there is anything I can do to heal yours let me know. Cause there is not a single thing in this world that I would not do for you.
Love always, x
