Schermafbeelding 2015-01-11 om 18.45.41Hey lovelies! At #TOTD we feature a new traveler that we are impressed with. Someone with a story, someone with a great passion for traveling. We love to inspire YOU by introducing you to these wanderlusters, these globetrotters from all over the world. We have had featured different nationalities on DOBE GLOBE, people from different backgrounds, different ages…but with 1 big thing in common. The love for traveling. Schermafbeelding 2015-01-11 om 18.49.40Short message from the #TOTD: My name is Ruth from Huntington Beach, California. After seven years at one of the ten largest companies in the world, I took a sabbatical to complete a trip around the world over three months. I’m a business woman, that pairs intense jobs and demanding roles with my wanderlust and maximizing my vacation days. I’m an artist (Former Ballerina and USC Song Girl), that pairs my right brain with my inner-nerd that loves strategy and numbers. My blog for the busy people in the world that love to travel. Go ahead, use all those vacations days. I’d love to inspire you. Where did you go for your first travel experience/holiday?Schermafbeelding 2015-01-11 om 18.46.00 My parents are big travelers. My Dad met my Mom (left in the pic) in Hong Kong, so my first trip was to Hong Kong as a child. It is still one of my favorite places in the world after visiting it over a dozen times! I love the electricity and the perfect balance of East meets West. Schermafbeelding 2015-01-11 om 18.46.31 2. Which 5 items do you always bring on your travels? 1.  Apple® Lightning™ to SD Card Camera Reader: My new favorite travel accessory. I load my photos and videos from my DSLR camera to my iPad so that I can post them to YouTube and Instagram to share my high quality photos/videos on the road. 2. External Battery Chargers: I am notorious for drained batteries. 3. Compact Travel Power Strip: There are never enough outlets and converters for all the electronics! 4. Travel Tripod for my Camera: So I can shoot videos around the world to share with you all! 5. Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: Sunscreen, moisturizer, and the perfect light coverage. 3.  Where are you now and where will you go for your next trip?Schermafbeelding 2015-01-11 om 18.46.17 I just got home right before the holidays from my three-month sabbatical and around the world adventure. I am already starting to get the itch so my husband and I are going to the Bahamas this month with our best friends! 4.  What is your dream destination and why?antarctica_reflective_iceberg_scene_weddell_sea My dream destination is Antarctica. I love natural beauty and adventure so I’d love to see the incredible ice formations, wildlife, and even do something crazy like scuba dive with a dry suit. 5.  What is your favorite travel picture that you took and why/what is the story behind it?trolltunga I hiked Trolltunga after seeing an Instagram photo that inspired me to go to Norway. The hike took fourteen hours roundtrip so I had a lot of time to ponder what I would do at the end of Trolltunga.  I opted to throw it back to the ballet days and test my balance in a big way. We miscalculated the time it would take to complete the hike so I lead my mother-in-law down the side of a steep, pitch black mountain with nothing but a small travel flashlight. Lesson learned. 6. If you could take 3 celeb travel buddies on your next trip, who would they be and why? MI0003369414– Pete Carroll (Current Seattle Seahawks NFL Coach): So I can relive the glory days of my former dominant college football Alma Mater of USC. – John Legend (Singer, Songwriter): One of my favorite singers/songwriters. My husband and I did our first dance at our wedding to “Stay with You”. – Pat Haden (USC Athletic Director): So him and Pete Carroll can fall in love and he can offer him a ton of money to come back to USC. Yeah, I like sports just as much as traveling. 7.  Are you a backpacker or a flash packer? And what was the best backpack/flashback accommodation where you have ever stayed? I’m a flash-packer. I love smart-luxury travel. I’m not a super girly, girl so I’ve slept in tents while hiking Machu Picchu, etc, but I love a nice place at the end of the travel day to unwind and enjoy amazing food and drinks. I may never stay in a place as luxurious and epic as Earth Lodge in Sabi Sands, South Africa. This breathtaking property is built into a slope at a private game reserve adjacent to Kruger National Parka and is so inconspicuous that lions and leopards are known to walk through the lobby. Each night ends with an exquisite meal, often set in private rooms, wine cellars, or outside so that you can gaze into the endless sea of stars in the sky.
