Let’s continue being inspired by wonderful travelers! Today I have another special Traveler for you guys. A cool guy from Casablanca with amazing pictures and cool movies/vlogs on his own blog!
Short intro from the TOTD:
My name is Omar Oualili, I’m from Casablanca (yes, like the movie and no, it doesn’t look like that anymore!), I’m 20 years old. I spent most of my life in Morocco, this beautiful and multicultural country where we are at the same time Amazigh and Arabs with Islamic, European and Jewish influences that are part of the history of the country and part of my identity. When I turned 18, I moved to London to study Accounting and Finance. My instagram account is @Volubilis26 and I have been on instagram since April 2012 so it has been a while that I enjoy sharing my pictures with a bit make up from the filters 🙂
It’s very interesting because I can’t tell… My first trip ever was when I was 2 or 3 years old with my mum taking me to Paris and I remember it well. When I was a child in Morocco, I had the opportunity to travel with my family a lot but my first trip ever all by myself was to Lille, France. Shortly after, I travelled to many places all by myself and I enjoy travelling alone!
2: Which 5 items do you always bring on your travels?
It’s a hard question! Ok, besides my Moroccan passport… I take a camera to capture my trips and share later on my blog and social media, second item would be my small backpack that is practical to put all things in one and carry it from the plane till my excursions, third item is my phone, obviously, very practical but also useful to share live my travels on internet, fourth is an universal adaptor as it happened that I forgot it many times and I had to buy it at expensive prices in some destinations as it was an urgent need to charge item 1 and 3 🙂 Lastly, I always take something warm to wear even if I go to the Middle East, I hate the A/C on planes, it make me sick when I’m wearing summer clothes.
3: Where are you now and where will you go for your next trip?
Right now, I’m stuck studying in London! But it is not as bad as it seems, living in London is a great experience as I always feel like a traveller here. There is always something nice to do and lot of people to meet and have fun! But I get bored of that sometimes. Therefore, I’m going to Basel, Switzerland at the end of November for a week-end. It will be my first time there so I’m really excited for that! I’m sure it will be a nice city-break. Then I will go to Morocco for few days to see my family. After my exams in January, I plan to go to Turkey and perhaps other places. I wish to go to the Balkans so I hope that will happen soon!
4: What is your dream destination and why?My dream destination would be “anywhere”! But I have few destinations that stand out from the rest. I would say Iceland, I want to see the Northern Lights and swim in the Blue Lagoon. Then Lebanon, I’m fascinated by this country and I’m curious to see how people live there, trapped between the crisis of the Middle East that I think they are in any way responsible for. But mately, I dream to visit Jerusalem, so I’d say it’s definitely my number 1! I want to see the Holy City and enjoy what it has to offer from spirituality to nightlife.
5: What is your favorite travel picture that you took and why/what is the story behind it?So this is my favourite travel picture right now. It’s not really the picture that I like, I have others that are better but this one I like it for what it represents to me. It’s taken in Taj Mahal in the city of Agra, India. This picture represents an achievement, I always dreamt of seeing Taj Mahal but I was less enthusiastic about travelling in India. But when I travelled there, the experience was really rich and Taj Mahal was at the end of the itinerary which made my trip much more symbolic to remember. This monument is incredibly beautiful and I wish to visit again!
Well, I have a proof, check the video below. This rockstar trip she did with lot of fans and journalists was totally crazy, they did 7 countries in 7 days to perform concerts in 7 cities!
Other celebrities… No one else on top of my head. But I think any other celebrity would have a good time travelling with me 😛
7: Are you a backpacker or a flash packer ? And what was the best backpack/flashback accommodation where you have ever stayed?
I definitely have the spirit of a backpacker but I do a bit of luxury travelling too when I can! My favourite backpack accommodation would definitely be theMeiai Hostel in Rio de Janeiro, I enjoyed this hostel very much maybe because I was in a very bad hostel before. I met lot of nice people and the hostel was very clean and well maintained, well located and friendly staff. For my luxury accommodation, I’m a bit hesitant between Hyatt Capital Gate in Abu Dhabi and Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong… I had such great and memorable experiences in both so I can’t choose!
Hope you guys liked this post!
Talk to you soon,
