Hey lovely friends!
As I mentioned in the post earlier this week [press here to read] I have created a new tag, the #TOTD tag where each day I will feature a traveler and a wanderluster by heart. I have decided to do this because I love to read travel stories and I am sure that I am not the only one.It is very inspiring to read other peoples stories, watch their pictures. Therefor I am searching for the best travelers to inspire YOU!

Today I am featuring IG user hawkono [press here for his account]
I choose him because I love his gallery, he posts awesome pictures and he seems like a cool guy!
1: Where did you go for your first travel experience/holiday
To be honest, I do not remember. The first holiday that I remember & that made the biggest impression on me as a child however was a trip to a caravan park by Haggerston Castle in Northumberland in England with my family. From there we also visited Edinburgh in Scotland. I think I was about 10 years old.

2: Which 5 items do you always bring on your travels
  1. Camera.
  2. Emergency fund in USD (if I get stuck in the airport or if my credit card doesn’t work).
  3. Copies of passport + travel documents.
  4. Notebook + pencils.
  5. Universal kit for electrical sockets.
3: Where are you now and where will you go for your next trip?
I am currently in Oslo, Norway studying for my masters degree at the university. My next big trip is probably going to be to Brazil. I have not decided where yet. There is so much to see, but I would love to go to Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Florianopolis, Recife or Porto Alegre. I have also yet to go to a  safari in Africa or experience Asia which I think would be awesome (because I love spicy foods).

4: What is your dream destination?
There are so many places that I would love to visit. But if I could dream of one place to visit, I would say it currently is Antarctica. It seems so remote and is a place not many people get the opportunity to visit. However, I am not sure if I think Antarctica should become a place for tourists – maybe it is the best to keep it “untouched” and the environment pristine.
5: What is your favorite travel picture that you took and why/what is the story behind it ?
NYC hawkono-7666
When I was a child I was obsessed with the USA, metropols & especially New York City. In 2007 I had never been to the US, but I was going to be an exchange student studying at an American High School. Finally I was able to go to New York and “fulfill my dream”. This is why I am choosing this picture, taken from a ferry boat on the Hudson River – technically it is probably not the most beautiful or the best, but to me it means a lot that I finally was able to snap this NYC classic it and have this experience!
6: If you could take 3 celeb travel buddies on your next trip, who would they be and why?
I think it would be fun to bring Jack Kerouac or some other beat poet, at least – it seems like his characters in “On the Road” have an eventful trip. I would also bring the television host Ian Wright from the Travel Channel, I always enjoyed watching his shows, and he would probably have some valuable input because of his experience. The last I would bring, I don’t know – maybe George Clooney so that we could all keep our cool and have enough money to keep on going.

7: Are you a backpacker (budget traveling) or a flash packer (luxury traveler)? And what was the best backpack/flashback accommodation where you have ever stayed?
On my last trip I was more of a backpacker. I stayed at a hostel and I barely went to a restaurant. However I don’t have any problems with hotels if I can get a good deal. I do not consider whether I stay at a hostel or a 5-star hotel the most important thing, as I barely stay in the hotel/hostel – almost always out in the city exploring instead of staying inside. One backpacker option I can recommend is in Rio de Janeiro. In April this year I stayed at the Rocinha Guesthouse [press here for more info about this guesthouse] for USD 126 for 5 nights and a light breakfast each morning – it also had a fantastic view! I met Japanese, Germans, Brits and Italians there. As well as the host speaks English and is interested in getting to know his guests.
I have really enjoyed this edition with IG user hawkono. Folow his journeys at his Instagram account here: *click*     It is always fun to read other travelers stories! Schermafbeelding 2014-08-16 om 12.41.59
